Mock Interview Success at Culloden Academy

Wednesday, 1st December 2021

We recently facilitated an event to help prepare Highland school pupils for the world of work, offering a crash course in job interview skills thanks to local industry leaders.

To improve employability skills and teach interview technique, staff from fifteen businesses throughout the Highlands conducted mock interviews with 125 S4 students at Culloden Academy.

The event was a success, with Dawn Gillies (pictured), our school coordinator for Culloden Academy, saying: “Pupils were able to choose a company in an industry that they would like to work in, and gain real life experience of what it’s like to be in a job application situation… Pupils received feedback on their performance, as well as CV reviews and handy hints and tips for the future. Employers are keen for pupils to begin exploring future opportunities in employment, apprenticeships and mentoring with them.”

We would like to thank NHS Highland, Highland Hospice, Redelk Design and Marketing, Ironworks Venue, Crofting Commission, Forestry and Land Scotland, Lifescan, BAM Nuttall, MacLeod & MacCallum, Munro & Noble, Smart Media Scotland, Dynam Marketing, Capgemini, Johnstons of Elgin and Morrison Construction for taking the time to participate in the event.

To ensure we can continue events similar to this being offered in the future, we are encouraging businesses in the Highlands to show their commitment to helping the future workforce by signing the Young Person’s Guarantee.
